Thinking About Writing a Book? Here’s How I Started My Writing Journey

Writing my book “Return Home” wasn’t about chasing success or proving anything to the world. It was about answering a call I felt deeply in my heart—to share my story of faith, transformation, and hope.

I’m not a professional writer. I never set out to write for recognition or applause. But over the years, I’ve been asked the same question by aspiring authors: “How did you write your book?”

Here’s what I learned along the way:

📖 Start with a Seed of an Idea

I didn’t have a fully developed concept at first, just a desire to make a difference and share a message that could inspire others.
✍️ Journal Consistently

I wrote daily—thoughts, lessons, prayers, reflections—without judgment. I kept asking myself, “What legacy do I want to leave behind?”
🙏 Seek Guidance

For me, faith was central in this journey. I prayed, asking God for clarity. Initially, I wrote about business and success, but it didn’t feel right. Then, one morning, I felt a deep impression to pause—to stop writing and wait. I stayed silent for three months, trusting that the right message would come.

When clarity finally arrived, it was undeniable. The title, Return Home, and the message of redemption were placed on my heart.
📚 Write with Purpose and Discipline

I committed to writing daily, often in the quiet of the early morning. No distractions, no comparisons—just me, my pen, and my faith.
🤫 Keep Your Vision Sacred

I didn’t share my writing plans widely at first. Not because I lacked confidence, but because I knew how easily dreams can be discouraged by outside opinions.
💡 Stay Connected to Your Why

Writing wasn’t always easy. There were moments of self-doubt, but I kept asking myself: “Why did I start this journey in the first place?” That reminder kept me moving forward.

✨ If you’re thinking about writing a book, my encouragement is simple:

Start where you are.

Write from the heart.

Trust the process.

Writing isn’t just about publishing—it’s about impact, storytelling, and leaving a legacy that matters. If you’ve written a book or are in the process, I’d love to hear your experiences! What has kept you motivated?

Let’s inspire each other on this creative journey! 📚
