The In-and-Out

If your first thought when you read this title had something to do with sex, welcome to the gutter, dear friend. It’s nice and warm and orgasmic in here!

Alas, even though I do enjoy writing about sex, this post is not about that kind of in-and-out.

I’m talking about the in-and-out of submissions. I’m talking about immediately re-submitting the writing that gets rejected. I’m talking about giving yourself a wee bit of time to wallow, rage or stuff your face with comfort food if you receive a rejection, but then making time to find another place to submit the same work. Make edits if you’d like, but you really don’t have to. Find another home possibility. Re-name the file. Follow the new submission guidelines and submit the same work again. And again. And again.

New eyes, and a new heart and head will read the writing, and hey, perhaps they’ll finally find love with your work and you’ll get published…or a nice rejection response.

What I’m saying here is – the work of the writing is already done, so keep putting it out there.

It’s January 8, and I’ve received two rejections already. I just re-submitted the poetry to another publication. Easy-peasy. Took me about 15 minutes. I opened my submission tracker, and inputed the details about this new submission so as not to forget what I’ve submitted and where and when.

And then I wrote this blog.

It’s the old in-and-out, friends. Not quite as pleasurable a sex, but maybe as quick? Heee. I mean, errrr….ummmm…
