misty the unicorn and the shouting king
Author, Lori NatesHi Everyone,
Welcome to Wanda Luthman’s Christian and Children’s Book Blog!
Today, I’m sharing a Book 2 of a 4 books series about Misty, the Unicorn.
Here’s the author, Lori, to tell us more about it….
Lori Nates has been an avid reader and writer since childhood. She is the author of the children’s books Misty the Unicorn and the Magical Rainbow and Misty the Unicorn and the Shouting King. She graduated with high honors from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts in history and psychology, and from Miami University in Ohio with a Master of Arts in history. Writing a master’s thesis on the history of southern Jewish women in the early twentieth century, as well as a fan fiction Star Wars novel, fueled her desire to become a professional writer. She worked as a legal secretary before fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a published author. She is the mother of a special needs child who loves fantasy and adventure stories. Her daughter’s autism inspired her to write her first book, Misty the Unicorn and the Magical Rainbow, and she trusts that her daughter will eventually learn to appreciate and share her love of reading. She hopes that her books will help other children develop a lifelong interest in and love of reading. This is her second young reader book.
When she is not writing, Lori enjoys practicing yoga, reading, watching classic movies, and spending time with her family. She lives in New Jersey. Readers can connect with her on Instagram: @lorinates1.
Available on AmazonIn Book 1 of the Misty the Unicorn series, Misty the Unicorn and the Magical Rainbow, we meet 6-year-old Becka Cohen, who lives in Ohio with her mother. One magical summer night, a shooting star streaks across the sky. Becka wishes on the shooting star that her unnamed new purple unicorn toy were real. Later that night, Becka is astonished to discover that her wish was granted, and that her purple unicorn toy has miraculously come to life. Misty the Unicorn has arrived from the country of Rainbow Domain to take Becka back to her home for a visit.
Join Becka and Misty as they travel to the end of the rainbow, to the enchanted realm of Rainbow Domain. Here you will meet a jolly rhyming leprechaun, a kind young prince, and the high-spirited, delightful people and animals of this magical country. Becka’s tour of Rainbow Domain will take her to the village farmers’ market, the park, and a new friend’s farm. There, she will discover she has lost the leprechaun’s gold coin, which is her return ticket home. Will Becka prove how honest she is and find the gold coin so she can return home in time?
This magical adventure book offers a fresh and unique take on the classic unicorn and rainbow story. Readers will smile during this feel-good story that will entertain and amuse them, while also subtly educating them. Misty highlights themes of friendship, responsibility, trust, kindness, acceptance, safety, security, and patriotism. This fantasy story is ultimately a celebration of American farm culture and small-town life.
The Misty the Unicorn series will be a 4-part series. In Book 3, we learn more about Becka’s mother, Lara, as well as the two co-captains of the king’s guards, Bentley the Irish wolfhound and Captain Connor. The mystery surrounding the origin of the unicorn Cinnamon’s illness will also be resolved.
Book 4 is going to have a lot of fun surprises as I wrap up this series, so stay tuned for that!
My book is available on all major online retailers, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Thrift Books, and Walmart.

Thank you, Lori, for sharing with us today about your Misty the Unicorn book series! I enjoyed Book 2 and look forward to reading future books as well.
Here’s my review
This book has some enjoyable characters and good world-building. It is Book 2 in the series. Becka, the main character, visits Rainbow Domain and gets to meet the King and Queen. Some clues that there is something wrong along with backstory about a previous war is woven into the story.
I enjoyed the story but there was no real conflict or character growth. It is more of linking Book 1 to Book 3 basically preparing you for the conflict that I assume is coming.
I believe children will love the unicorn and the sweet main character!
Thank you to my blog followers for stopping by today. I hope you will pick up a copy of not only Book 2, but also Book 1 and stay tuned for Books 3 & 4!
As always, likes, comments, and shares are always appreciated.
God Bless You, Everyone!
