Lyrics are a poem by Christian Rossetti. Music is by Gustav Holst. I find it intensely beauiful.

Although I'd tweak the lyrics if I could:

In the bleak mid-winter
  Frosty wind made moan
Earth stood hard as iron,
  Water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
  Snow on snow on snow,
In the bleak mid-winter
  Many years ago.
