November 2024 Monthly Wrap-Up

November had a lot of difficult, heavy parts. It was a pretty medical-heavy month–appointments, a pre-planned admission for some testing, trying to find my own health insurance for the first time. And with the election and the time of year for me personally, I felt like I was grieving a lot of things. I also topped off the month with a GI hospital admission when my feeding tube balloon popped on Thanksgiving (seriously? Thanks for really rubbing it in).

As a counterweight, I have loved getting to know my new cats! Ramble (tabby) is a precious angel teddy bear with the loudest purr. He’s fluffy and chunky with more of a chill personality, and likes to burrow/tunnel under blankets. Rocco (black) is kind of chaotic/dramatic with a troublemaker streak. He’s slightly less fluffy and chunky, enjoys playing with all kinds of cat toys, and shows love by lying on my pillow and licking my face.

And here’s some other stuff I did in November, including a Halloween party and a wedding:

This month I’m…

Reading: The House of Hades and The Blood of Olympus, Rick Riordan (rereads). The Bletchley Riddle, Ruta Sepetys and Steve Sheinkin. The Lonely Heart of Maybelle Lane, Kate O’Shaughnessy (reread). Always Clementine, Carlie Sorosiak (reread). Greenwild and Greenwild: The City Beyond The Sea, Pari Thomson. Dearly, Margaret Atwood. 8 total

Listening to: My November/December playlist. This Sixpence None the Richer album. Beetlejuice and The Outsiders. (“Get’cha Head in the Game” is a nightly listen for Ramble, who needs a little encouragement to assert himself and take his share of the wet food that he and Rocco share.)

Watching: Wicked part one.

Writing: I worked a little bit on church stuff, my book (finally broke 50k), junk journaling, and voice/songwriting, but… not nearly as much as I would have liked on all of them.

Grateful for: Kisses from my new cats. Compliments on my job at church. Basically getting a private masterclass from the coolest artist. Holding babies. Canned biscuits. Canceled meetings. The feeling of hope. SOC Saturday lives. Planning Christmas gifts. Having cats who love to play with toys. All good nurses.

What did you do this month? Blogmas starts NOW!!!
