The Ultimate Reading Challenge #23 – Try A New Genre Of Book!
Hi all!
Welcome back to The Ultimate Reading Challenge! I outlined in 2022 how the new series will work here, so check that out before progressing further. For my 23rd challenge, the task was to read from a new genre. I decided to go with a Historical Mystery, selecting The Only One Left by Riley Sager. Today I am going to share my thoughts on the book, plus my prize for completing the prompt. Without further ado, let’s get into it!
Plot: ‘The Only One Left’ by Riley Sager:A woman takes a job caring for elderly invalid, Lenora Hope, who was accused decades ago of murdering her parents and younger sister. As Lenora opens up about the past, her carer starts to wonder if her patient is actually innocent or more dangerous than she thought.
Review: ‘The Only One Left’ by Riley Sager:My aim for 2025 is to read and rank all of Riley Sager’s works. I have to say, I think The Only One Left may be my favourite thus far. The moody setting, the cast of characters, the mystery – all of it had me captivated from start to finish. What really got me though were the shocking twists. They were one after the other, hitting me right between the eyes each and every time. This was a perfectly told story with several layers to it. It’s one that deserves a re-read because once you know the truth, your entire perspective changes. I highly recommend it!
Prize For Completing The Challenge:As you can see below, my prize for completing the prompt was this teacup paperclip. It’s cute, but nothing to write home about.
Thank you so much for reading! I will see you next month for a new bookish challenge!
Peace & Love xoxo
