Poetry is not always Pretty

(Prologue from Pieces of Me)

Poetry is not always pretty.
Sometimes, it is angry and raw.
An open wound that still bleeds from countless wars.
Why cover with fancy metaphors that rhyme?
Poetry is not always pretty.
It should reflect
the stories of our lives
Why try to enhance it with “happy ever after” or
“once upon a time”?
Take your pretty poetry and place it in a book to sell.
I can only write as I feel.
My story is mine to tell.
Never for sympathy or rapturous applause,
only because I prefer not to use gauze.
So, I choose to write with flaws until restored.

Thank so much to anyone who has bought this Collection.

It was very important for me to tell my story and raise awareness of domestic abuse and I will continue to do so in whatever form I can now that I have a voice.

I am still on my healing journey, that takes as long as it takes.
