If you didn't catch my previous post where I debunked nine self-publishing myths, check it out
here.
A lot of people search the internet, trying to find the advantages and disadvantages of self-publishing. It's good for us to study things out before taking a leap in any direction, and I'm a huge proponent of making sure you fully understand all paths before choosing one.
Self-Publishing Pros:
1. You have complete control over every aspect: cost of the eBook, cover, editing, content, release, etc. For me, this is huge. I didn't want a publisher to wait until the last minute to make changes on my book, then not run them by me before publishing.
2. The royalties are much, much, much, much, much (X 29) higher. :-) Most websites give you around 35% for an eBook priced up to $1.99 and around 70% for a book priced higher than $1.99. Can you imagine that? You've got a book selling at $3.99 and you're making $2.80. That's pretty awesome. And not only is it awesome, but it's sad that it's more than a traditionally published author makes for a $9.99 eBook.
