HOLY PARADOX

But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.  Hebrews 11:16 NKJV

Nobody can predict exactly how all the details are going to be fulfilled when it comes to the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. One verse of the Bible says one thing about the return and another part says another thing. It does not mean that the Bible is contradicting itself, it means that only God Almighty can pull it off. It’s a paradox.

Take a look at the dual nature of the wedding and the war found in the book of Revelation. The sermon series I titled The Wedding and The War is intentional because the two very different things are happening at the very same time. Both Malachi and Zephaniah called it the great and terrible day of the LORD. (Malachi 4:5; Zephaniah 1:14)

It’s the glory of God in the midst of all kinds of hell breaking loose. Just in case we didn’t quite get the point from Zephaniah and Malachi, the Prophet Joel describes the return of the Lord Jesus with the same vocabulary, “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.” – Joel 2:31 KJV

Declaration:  Kingdom life means I have hope for my future no matter what happens here on Earth.  My promise is that I will be with God, who loves me, for all of eternity.  It is exciting that Jesus is coming back soon.  Lord Jesus will show me how to prepare and partner with Him to prepare others.
