Tapping for Self-Worth: Transform Your Self-Esteem in Minutes a Day Using EFT

Do you ever catch yourself thinking “I’m not good enough” or “I don’t deserve success?” Does your inner critic seem to have an endless supply of reasons why you’re falling short? If you’re struggling with self-worth and looking for a powerful way to finally silence that inner critic and build genuine self-esteem, EFT Tapping for self-worth might be exactly what you need.

Self-worth isn’t just about feeling good – it’s the foundation for everything from healthy relationships to career success to overall life satisfaction. Put simply, it’s the key to living a peaceful, joyful life. Yet for many of us, maintaining a strong sense of self-worth feels like an impossible challenge. But with the Tapping technique, there’s a proven way to release limiting beliefs and build lasting self-esteem from the inside out.

What is Tapping for self-worth?

Tapping (also known as Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT) is a powerful mind-body approach that combines elements of ancient Chinese acupressure with modern psychology.

When applied to self-worth issues, EFT involves gently tapping on specific acupressure points on your body while focusing on thoughts and feelings related to self-esteem.

The process helps calm your nervous system and rewire neural pathways, allowing you to release negative self-talk and limiting beliefs while building a stronger foundation of self-acceptance and genuine confidence.

How EFT Tapping helps build self-worth

EFT Tapping for self-esteem works through several key mechanisms:

Calms the Nervous System: When we have low self-worth, we often exist in a state of stress and anxiety. Tapping sends calming signals to the amygdala (the brain’s stress center), helping us feel safer and more grounded. This paves the way for us to navigate the world from a place of greater calm and confidence.Releases Negative Self-Talk: Tapping helps quiet that inner critic that constantly tells you you’re not enough. By addressing these thoughts while Tapping, you can reduce their emotional charge, ground back into your true self, and create space for more supportive self-talk.Rewires Neural Pathways: Through consistent practice, Tapping helps create new, more positive neural connections around how you see yourself, making it easier to maintain healthy self-esteem over time.Addresses Root Causes: Many self-worth issues stem from past experiences or traumas. Tapping provides a gentle way to process and release these deeper wounds from our past, so we can face our futures with open hearts and clear minds.Builds Self-Acceptance: The phrases you repeat in Tapping often include elements of self-acceptance, helping you develop a more compassionate and loving relationship with yourself.Signs you might benefit from Tapping for self-worth

If any of these resonate with you, Tapping could be a valuable tool for building stronger self-worth:

Ready to try Tapping for self-worth? Here’s a simple sequence to get you started. If you’re new to Tapping, you can learn the basics first here

Step 1: Assess Your Current State

Think about your self-worth right now. Notice any negative thoughts or feelings that arise, such as self-doubt, self-judgment, or critical inner thoughts. On a scale of 0-10, rate how intense that self-doubt or criticism is (10 being the strongest).

Step 2: Tap through the points

Tap about 5-7 times on each point while repeating the following phrases in your mind or out loud:

Side of the hand: Even though I struggle with feeling worthy,

I choose to be open to accepting myself anyway.

Even though I sometimes doubt myself and my abilities,

I give myself permission to breathe and relax now.

Even though I part of me doesn’t think I am enough,

I am open to building up my sense of self-worth.

Eyebrow: I seem to be always questioning my worth

Side of the Eye: This feeling that I’m not enough

Under the Eye: Or that there is something I need to do to prove myself

Under the Nose: What if I’m just not worthy?

Under the Mouth: I’m so tired of doubting myself

Collarbone: All this self-doubt

Under the Arm: Sometimes it’s hard to see my value

Top of the Head: Sometimes it’s hard to accept myself for who I am

Eyebrow: But what if I could shift this pattern?

Side of the Eye: What if I could start accepting myself a little bit more?

Under the Eye: I’m open to seeing more of my own value

Under the Nose: So I choose to be kind to myself in this moment

Under the Mouth: I choose to honor myself

Collarbone: It’s safe to believe and trust in myself

Under the Arm: Maybe I really am worthy

Top of the Head: Maybe I really am enough, right now, in this moment

Step 3: Take a Deep Breath and Reassess

Take a deep breath in and out, and then check in with yourself. Rate your intensity of self-doubt or self-criticism again. Has your number shifted at all? Repeat the sequence as needed until you feel like a shift (even just a little shift compared to where you started).

Step 4: Explore Additional Tapping

The sequence above was just a very short example of what Tapping for self-worth and self-esteem can look like and sound like. As you tap, you may notice different thoughts, feelings, or memories might arise.

After doing the initial few rounds of Tapping, feel free to go in whatever direction you are called to. You might choose to do some Tapping on a memory, or perhaps on shame or some other emotion you are noticing. Or maybe you want to simply tap while repeating empowering self-worth affirmations. Let whatever initially came up guide you to more Tapping so you can go even deeper.
