Fierce fighting on the front line: Putin’s troops capture two villages on the way to Pokrovsk

Russian troops have captured the villages of Serebryanka and Nikolaevka in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the takeover was preceded by fierce fighting at the front.

seaReutersThe Ukrainian army has not confirmed the loss of these villages, but reports heavy fighting in these areas. “The fighting is extremely intense,” a spokesman for the Ukrainian armed forces said. Bloggers on both sides also reported a heavy Russian attack on the town of Selidove.

The Ukrainian military blog DeepState reported that Ukrainian defenders in Selidove were fighting “overwhelming forces”. Russian military blogger Yuri Podoliaka said that Russian troops have already captured the central, eastern and southern areas of Selidove. “Russian flags can be seen on tall buildings,” he wrote.

An important intersection of Pokrovsk is highly threatened

Recent Russian advances also pose a threat to Ukrainian control of Pokrovsk, which Reuters says is a major logistical hub and strategic target for Russian forces. The capture of Selidove will open the way to Pokrovsk and put additional pressure on the Ukrainian defense lines.
