In a Harvard University forum, the requirements to be a judge after judicial reform are being laughed at

The minister Alfredo Gutiérrez Ortiz Mena, a member of the Supreme Court of the Nation (SCJN), participated in an academic forum at Harvard University where he explained the scope of recent judicial reform in Mexico.

During his speech, detailed the new constitutional requirements for a judge or magistrate, which include a minimum 8 grade point average for higher education and the submission of five letters of recommendation.

These changes, approved in September by Morena, PT and PVEM, caused laughter among the American judges and academics present at the event.

Gutiérrez Ortiz Mena explained that those who meet these requirements will be able to participate in the popular elections in June 2025.where new members of the Judiciary will be elected.

Despite the mocking reaction of those present, The hall full of students and speakers did not comment on the reform.
