He burst onto the scene due to his involvement in another alleged corruption plot that also involved Aldama. It is about an alleged fraud of 182 million through hydrocarbons, for which both are in prison. According to the UCO, in January 2021, Koldo arranged an interview with the Director of the Cabinet of the Ministry of Industry. The goal was for Villafuel to obtain a wholesale hydrocarbons operator’s license, although it was not achieved until 2022, when Abalos was already out of government. Agents linked to this operation the acquisition by another Rivas company, Have Got Time, of a villa in La Línea de la Concepción (Cádiz) for use by the former minister.
