Officers from the Olsztyn Provincial Police Headquarters dismantled a criminal group that practiced extortion using the “cop” and “grandson” method. Six people were arrested for extorting more than PLN 800,000 in this way.

The arrests took place at the beginning of October in and around Warsaw. it’s about six people: four men and two women. One is seven months pregnant and the other has a two-month-old baby. According to unofficial information, Some of the detained people are of Romani origin.

The group dealt with “cop” and “grandkid” fraud. The six heard, among other things: charges of operating in an organized criminal group and committing a series of frauds. Three people have already been convicted many times for similar crimes and will be considered responsible for multiple recidivism. Only the woman currently caring for the child was not arrested.

For now, the police report about 20 victims of scammers from all over Poland. but the number may be higher.

Towards future punishments for suspects insured, among others: for money and gold products.
