Monteverdi’s song is like a club song

This is the seventh solo album by Jakub Józef Orlinski. – I have already recorded a lot of absolutely classic albums – said the countertenor in an interview before the current premiere. -I love doing this and I have many ideas for upcoming ideas. But I’ve long wanted to do something with Alec Diebitsch, who has a great talent for arranging, composing and improvising. I love improvisation, and that’s what the Baroque gave me.

All the melodies and compositions of Aleksandar Dubic on this album have a chamber character. Jakub Józef Orlinski is accompanied by Aleksander Dobić on piano, drummer Marcin Ulanovski and bassist Wojciech Guminski.

– We created new covers of Baroque songs and melodies, in a similar way to how pop artists cover songs that interest them. – explains Alexander Dubić. – In our versions, the Baroque pieces look modern, but they retain their character, even if we change some accents. For example, “Oblivion”, based on the “Oblivion soave” from Monteverdi’s opera “The Coronation of Poppea”, remains a kind of lullaby, but in our version it has the features of an ecstatic club song.

Until October 17, Jakub Józef Orlinski will perform songs from the album “#LetsBaRock” at concerts in Warsaw, Bielsko-Biaława Łódź, Szczecin and Gdańsk.
