Exploiting You, Especially If You Live in Germany

Bob wrote a scene in Very Nice Funerals where his guy asks for a croissant. In a German bakery.

So I googled for “German croissant” and got “Franzbrötchens.”

Does that work? Is it always capitalized? I’m learning a lot more about German pastry than I’d intended.

Thanking you in advance for any help you can give.

Lisa Not currently living in Germany and my German classes were a long time ago but I think it would always be capitalized. As I recall, nouns are always capitalized regardless of where they are in the sentence.

Franzbrotchen are closer to a cinnamn roll than a croissant. Can't say that I ever saw croissants in the bakeries in Germany. But then, I was always more interested in the desserts and actual loaves of bread. I think the Germans make the best bread in the world!
