When God swore an oath of salvation to Abraham, he included Abraham’s children. In Genesis 17:7, He said to Abraham, “I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenat, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee.” Abraham had to believe all that God said to Him, which included that God would be God to his children. This same promise comes to us, the children of Abraham. He will deliver us and our children to a thousand generations. Baptism is a sign of this covenant promise.
