We all float down here. You’ll float too. You’ll float too!

I won't, I sink in any water, I have no bodily buoyancy whatsoever like my father before me who sank on his own tropical honeymoon and had to be hauled to the surface by my mother.

Unrelated I just read Stephen King's "Carrie" and might try "It" next.

Not to become a Stephen King liveblog but holy hell it’s a long book-

I see what you did there, Stephen…

I love when the writer works the book title into the prose-

Also check out my writing blog for some actual thoughts on good moments in it and stuff.

🎵WHOAAAAAAAAA🎵🎵WHOOO-OAAAA🎵

King comes up with such oddly familiar names for his side characters-

As close to the end now as I once was to the beginning, a long time ago.

The heroes approach the dragon…

Diversity win! Characters losing their minds upon seeing its true form still respect its pronouns when faced by their pathetic human understandings of its cosmic gender!

Uh oh, 50 pages left and the kids are lost in the sewer! I hope they find a tasteful, normal, and unproblematic way to keep together and escape…

…well.

Uh. That was a bit unnecessary but if I’m ever lost in an IKEA with some pals I know what to try?

Jesus Stephen 1000 pages of great book and then you go and write that. No wonder people are wary of his third acts.

@sevdidntdie Thanks! Solid 8/10, it’s a good 1140pg book that probably could’ve been a great 650 page book. Has flaws and bad blemishes, has great moments and brilliant classic concepts that have shaped horror writing since. It’s the longest book I’ve read since Harlot’s Ghost and was certainly more enjoyable.

I’m mostly happy I can read again after years of kidney pain, and write again too. This one gave me some epic inspiration for a horror novel as well, one entirely devoid of child sewer orgies. Seriously King, WTF. I think he must have been trolling someone.
