An Open Letter to My FBI Agent
I like to write my FBI Agent periodically. The rumor is that everyone has one. In lieu of my regular blog, I present my open letter to him, who I have named Jim.
Jim,
I hope you are doing well. I apologize for not writing sooner, but you know how busy I am.
Literally.
Me on the other hand- I'm not as linked into your welfare as you are into mine, which is why I'm writing. I saw the attempted assassination, Jim. You know everyone did, and I can't help but wonder how the bureau has been since then. I imagine heads are rolling one way or the other, whether it's because the shooter missed or the shooter took the shot. Difficult to say.
The foil hats are all a shine with this rumor or that, but no matter the case, I don't fault you, Jim. See, we like to think we are in charge of things, but at the end of the day, nothing goes to completion without the authority of the Big Guy. Someone took the shot, but the Big Guy stopped it. We make plans Jim. Sometimes we execute and sometimes we attempt, and sometimes.... God laughs.
There's also the matter of good people in bad places, in bad organizations. Staying for whatever reason-because they need their jobs, out of hope they can change things from within, because they care about the people they work with, or simply because they have nowhere else to go. They stay defiantly while the place rots around them and somehow, through whatever miracle, their soul doesn't rot with it.
At least, not completely.
I hope you are one of these Jim. I would like to think you are, which is why I keep inviting you.
No, not that way! (I saw what you did to my rose bushes while spying on me the other night, it's a miracle you didn't kill yourself!) Come in through the friggen front door! Talk to me, tell your coworkers to talk to the citizens they've been spying on, and we can discuss how we are to survive what's coming.
Because at the end of the day Jim, they're not after just me or the other foil folk, they're after ALL of us.
Yes, you included.
Again, the front door is always open (seriously, I can't emphasize "front door" enough. I am putting out mole traps and if you lurk again, you'll get a toe taken off!)
Much love,
Your favorite neighborhood Infidel :)
