Adding a Second Genre
My first fantasy novel went live on Amazon for preorder earlier this evening. The book is The Clock and the Candles, and it will be released on August 10.
I make a strong English Breakfast tea early almost every morning. I like to sit around for a little while after sunrise and sip and let my mind wander. During one of those sessions in early June, I started to think about a new character named Roland. I didn't know anything about him other than that he worked as the Keeper of the Clock, and that he had just received an anonymous letter. For whatever reason, I knew that the letter said this:
Dear Roland,
Consider five statements. Three of them are true. Two of them are lies.
1. You are the last of your kind.
2. King Adolphus is an immortal being.
3. The creatures who walk the Lands after sunset serve no master.
4. Gwenivere's prison was not constructed according to specifications.
5. The Ebony Clock is not connected to anything at all.
Sort the truth from the lies, and you will be free.
I wondered if Roland might be a new addition to my Voided Man universe, but it soon became apparent that he was a co-star in a whole new story.
I'm very happy with how the first book has turned out. I'm about a third of the way through drafting the second book in the series, and I think all three of them will be out before the end of the year.
And fear not, Voided Man fans. I am hard at work on that series as well. Book 3 (Beyond the Lemon Tree Moon) will release on September 8, and the draft of Book 4 is nearly finished. I expect to release that one in November.
Thank you for taking an interest in my writing.
