A Fantasy Author’s Search History: When were spyglasses invented?

I don’t remember why I wanted to know when the spyglass was invented. But unfortunately, it was invented in the Netherlands in the early 1600s. October 2, 1608, is one date given, although the article called it a telescope. Not early enough for medieval times.

I tried to look up if there were medieval spyglasses just to see what would come up, but the first results were from a video game and otherwise, there was nothing.
