Fact Check: Magellan’s Cross
Magellan’s Cross is one of the iconic tourist spots in old Cebu. The historical marker [Top] clearly states the commemorative nature of the site. The cross is not the original cross planted by Magellan in 1521.
However, the marble base of the cross [Bottom] declares that a piece or fragment of the original 1521 cross is encased inside the cross of tindalo venerated by the people.
