Words from the edge

Fresh from the edge of Australia, I thank all who contributed to my writing residency at Lighthouse Arts Newcastle, a Hunter Writers’ Centre initiative.

The utter freedom to gaze out – at the river mouth and sea, at whale spouts, rainbows, waves rolling in to golden beaches, sunshine in sea spray and an ever changing sky – and write whatever came into my head? Priceless!

In the bracing week of our winter solstice, I hammered out a novella set deeply in the spectacular landscape. It touches on ancestral songs and stories and recognises all people and the planet we share. I look forward to sharing those words with you once they’re polished.

I’m delighted to add more thanks – this time to all the generous souls who braved the winter cold to help me launch Midnight Beach, during the recent Words on the Waves Writers’ Festival.

What a great night of discussion we enjoyed, with fellow beach read author Ella McLaughlin and Central Coast Community News writer and editor Terry Collins! #bookjoy #gratitude

This is a great time to thank all of you for your loyalty and encouragement. You keep me writing! Next up, Sunset Beach, hopefully before the end of the year…
