Singularly boring.

The Singularity (New York Review Classics) The Singularity by Dino Buzzati

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

Woefully under-developed characters makes for a boring read.

Taking into account that contemporary society has already surpassed the science fiction achievements described in the book, I still don't find this to be an interesting read even for the 1960's. It took 80 pages for anything to happen, and the book is only 120 pages long. Considering that the characters had 80 pages to develop, yet somehow managed to not develop, is a testament to poor writing. Irrelevant technology does not make an old science fiction book bad - I've read a lot of incredible science fiction from the 1960's whose technology was surpassed long ago, but sadly I cannot count this over-hyped book amongst that lot.
