How canal life changes my daily routines… Day 295
Sunday 12th May – Day 295
This life seems to lend itself to early to bed and early to rise which is the opposite of how I used to be, as I used to hate getting up early and love staying up late, but when you live so close to nature then you don’t have much option but to wake up with the birds which I really don’t mind.
Also, if we stay up late we only ending up using more electric and draining the boat battery or the powerbank so whats the point. I watch very little TV anymore. Some YouTube and the odd series but I would say about 80% less than when I lived in a house.
What with one thing and another, either cruising and the fresh air and locks or work, I’m nice and tired by the end of the day and the hormones seemed to have settled down to let me sleep which is miracle and makes such a massive difference. It also helps that i can more or less dictate my days so if i’m tired i can have a power nap ((I don’t think you’ve had one in ages Peachy!)) I know and I love a power nap. The thing is when you have a fixed workplace to go to with fixed hours when hormones are playing up, it is so hard waking up at daft o’clock the brain starts worrying about getting up for work, then you don’t sleep and it becomes a vicious circle and you feel awful all the time. I’m so pleased there is more discussion and openness about the peri-menopause because it was created by the devil to make women go insane! Well, that’s what it feels like, which is why i feel so grateful it’s settled down and i feel more like myself with every day living this life.
Also, one of the benefits of going to bed early is watching the bats darting about outside the windows. If you love nature then the boating life could be for you!
This morning I made the most of the 4.30am start by getting some freelance work done. Next week I’ve cleared my diary for three days to edit my Jersey novel so I want to get as ahead as I can with everything else. Also the week beginning the 20th we are in London as you know so I want a week off ((You’re never at work!)) to enjoy that.
Right, week done. Hope everyone has had a good week. Time to crank it next week to LONDON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
