What Does the Author Read?

If you asked my teachers during my “formative” years, I wasn’t much of a reader. Oh, I read books that I had to, mostly because English classes required it. To this day I still have a profound hatred for Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea, thanks to an overzealous high school English teacher.
