This was supposed to be the end of the whole Godzilla thing. Honda thought so, at least. It was a grand sendoff for everyone involved since the beginning with Honda, Eiji Tsuburaya, producer Tomoyuki Tanaka, and composer Akira Ifukube getting one final assignment from Toho to end the franchise on a grand note.
