Five projects win two each at BAFTA Television Craft Awards

The British Academy has announced the winners of the BAFTA Television Craft Award, which will be presented at a ceremony in London on Sunday night. This award celebrates the behind-the-scenes TV talent’s creativity, skill and craft, and her best show of 2023.

Each of the following won two BAFTAs.

For “Demon 79 (Black Mirror),” Charlie Brooker and Bisha K. Ali won the screenplay/drama category, and Stephen Persson won the photography/illumination fiction category. Nicky Parsons, Olly Bartlett and Richard Valentine win ‘Director: Multi-Camera’, Julio Jimede, Tim Routledge, Kojo Samuel, Michael Sharp and Dan Shipton win Eurovision Song Contest 2023 Entertainment Craft Team Award. Once Upon a Time’s editorial team Northern Ireland won the Editing Category ‘Facts’, and the documentary’s composer Simon Russell won the Original Music ‘Facts’ award. Atli Örvarsson won Original Music: Fiction, and Gavin Bocquet and his Amanda Bernstein won Production Design for their work on Silo. Sound for Slow Horses his team won Sound: Fiction, and Sam Williams won a BAFTA for his work on episode 1 of the show (Editing: Fiction).

Director: “Factual” won for Peter Beard and Bruce Fletcher’s “Otto Baxter: Not a Fucking Horror Story.”

Peter Hoare won the Best Director: Fiction award for The Last of Us.

Screenwriter Cat Sadler won in the Emerging Talent: Fiction category for “Such Brave Girls,” and director Fred Scott won in the Emerging Talent: Factual category for “London Bridge: Facing Terror.”

BAFTA breakthrough Jack Luke won the BAFTA Award for Best Writer: Comedy for Big Boys.

Aisha Bywaters, also a BAFTA Breakthrough alumnus, won her second BAFTA in 2022 for Best Screenplay and Casting for “Three Little Birds,” having won for “We Are Ready Parts.” Awarded.

First-time BAFTA winners include Sharon Long, who designed costumes for The Great, Lisa Parkinson, who designed make-up and hair for The Long Shadow, and The Detectives: Take Down. Includes Benedict Sanderson, who won Photography: Factual for “an OCG”.

The sound team was awarded “Sound: Factual” for the coronation of King TM and Queen Camilla.

Tamsin McGee, Ben Hanbury, Hugo Moss and Paul McDonnell won in the title and graphic identity category for Wilderness.

Tim Crosby, Kaimin Bourne, Jet Omoshebi, Dan Weir, Cinesite, and David Stevens won for special effects, visual effects, and graphic effects for The Witcher.

The TVCraft Special Award was presented to MAMA Youth Project by ITV presenter Leah Hebden for its work in helping young people from underrepresented groups gain careers in television and the media industry. Founder and CEO Bob Clark received the award.

The BAFTA Television Craft Awards, hosted for the first time by award-winning television presenter Stacey Dooley, was held at The Brewery London.

The night featured top television talent as guest presenters. Angelica Bell, Bethany Hughes, Callum Scott Howells, Cliff Parisi, Danielle Rowley, Diane Carson, Emily Lloyd-Saini, Humphrey Kerr, Jodie Ornsley, Josh Tedek, Judy Love, Katie Piper, Liz Bonin, Mawan Rizwan, Miles Kamwendo, Ray Panthaki, Leah Hebden, Rochelle Neal, Roisin Gallagher, Saffron Coover, Tanya Moody, Yazmin Bello.
