Daylight Saving Time

In the winter of 1918 more daylight hours were added in the USA to conserve energy resources. Year-round daylight saving time was implemented again during World War II. After the war, local jurisdictions were free to choose if and when to observe DST. The Uniform Time Act  standardized DST in 1966. A permanent daylight saving time enacted in 1974 was repealed a year later.
