Look into the mirror of your mind
People who come into my room say, wow, what a nice room. The guy installing the new ventilator said he could sleep here. He also commented on my nice music. I guess he was saying sub-acute facilities aren’t known to have rooms this nice.
Well, C, I was diagnosed in 2009. I have been in a care facility for seven years. I don’t have fear, doubt, anger, or much wasted time. How about you, what is your deal? Just diagnosed, and your emotions are flipping all over the place? As I mentioned earlier this week, I wake up hungry, happy, and horny. This is, in my opinion, better than beginning each day hurting, hopeless, and hapless.
Possibly, to some people, I don’t act like someone who has a terminal disease and a shortened life expectancy. What a great compliment. I seem too upbeat and positive to be facing this devastating disease. I give thanks for that. We are not our condition, disease, or illness. We are more than the exterior shell. Our detours off the paths of our norms haven’t defined who we really are.
If I lose my way, I get direction from people who seem to know the way. Love has no age, no death; and no limits. John Galsworthy. Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are. Mason Cooley. Love one another as I have loved you. Jesus. You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late. Ralph Waldo Emerson. No one has ever become poor by giving. Anne Frank. It always seems impossible until it’s done. Nelson Mandela. There is only one happiness in this life, to love and be loved. George Sand. Love doesn’t make the world go ’round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile. Franklin P. Jones. A problem anticipated is an opportunity. John C Maxwell. Time will expose or promote all of us. Weldon Long. Circumstances don’t make the man, they only reveal him to himself. James Allen.
I’m making my room a catalyst for positive living. This morning, I will finish reading What to Say When You Talk With Yourself by Dr Shad Helmsetter. I’m programming my brain to make me a person I am happy with. Simplysaidbysimon, you look good. ALS – Always Looking Sharp. Thanks, Jillane.
