Videos created using artificial intelligence in which politicians appear to say things they never said. This could be used to manipulate opinions, change moods and bury the truth. Such fears have been around for a long time, but they are becoming increasingly concrete. Now, when important elections are coming up in the US and Germany, when AI companies are releasing ever more impressive tools at ever shorter intervals, when the world has been hyperventilating for a week over a doctored photo of Princess Kate.
