Noir at the Bar
My latest Maybridge Murder Mystery is with my editor so until I have more news about that, I thought I’d let you know what else I’ve been up — apart from the housework!
This weekend was the Crawley Festival of Words crime weekend.
I was thrilled to be able to hear Elly Griffiths and Barbara Nadel talk about their latest books. I’m really excited about the new “Frozen” series from Elly which will be published next year.
And then it my turn when the weekend climaxed with a Noir at the Bar event.
Noir at the BarNoir at the Bar started in the US but is now becoming established here in the UK. Authors gather in a pub — this was at The Old Punchbowl in Crawley High Street and was in aid of charity — and read excerpts from one of their books.
We had a packed house and, along with six other best-selling crime writers I (hopefully) wrung the withers with a reading from Murder Among the Roses.
Here we are — I did my best to brighten the image but the photographer was obviously going with the Noir at the Bar theme!
From left to right – Casey Kelleher, Anna Mazzola, Derek Farrell (organiser and moderator of this event), Liz Fielding, Erin Young, Laura Marshall, Helen Fields and Graham Bartlett.
So many new books on the TBR list!
Bristol CRIMEfestFor those of you in the area, I will also be appearing at Bristol Crimefest in May, moderating a panel which includes Simon Brett, Janet Laurence, T E Kinsey and Alice Bell. I will also be on a panel with Felix Francis, Alex Stone, and Alex Shaw — all hugely exciting.
And just a gentle prompt that Murder Among the Roses has been shortlisted for The People’s Book Prize. If you haven’t already voted it’s really easy. Just click HERE !
