A Haunted Madness...
An opacity had formed in the slivers, a million different pinpoints of light. It moved and gathered form. The sight transfixed him; was it a reflection of the flowers? The ocean? A figment of his overwrought mind? He shook his head to clear his thoughts, leaned closer to the sharp, shiny shards, and then felt wetness in the hand that held the broken fragments. Blood pooled about the broken glass as it wept onto the stone, a stained mosaic of red and silver reflections. A face in the glass reflected at him, coming from a thousand different slivers. Gran's face; her eyes smeared back to her hairline with the passing of time and decay. Her mouth was open and teeth protruding, screaming in permanent rictus.
He turned from the balcony and fled.
