The Weekly Rune – Berkana

Berkana is a rune of tending and being tended. It comes after deep tribulation, the kind that makes us fear for our lives, the greater good kind, the aggrieved sacrifice kind. So, the lead-in from Tiwaz lingers into our experience of Berkana. There is a sort of spa quality to the care this rune bestows, perhaps even medicinal. It also brings a somewhat present-focused state, in that we are solely tending Self in the moment and not projecting ahead for what comes next. I approach this runic space as rehabilitation: we’re not what we used to be, we are not who we are becoming, yet are shifting throughout.
