In 1971, Garry Marshall and his then-partner Jerry Belson produced and wrote Scared Stiff, a sitcom pilot much in the vein of an old Abbott and Costello movie. Bob Denver and Warren Berlinger starred and Paul Reed, who played the police captain on Car 54, Where Are You? played the police captain here. This was the year after Marshall and Belson had turned The Odd Couple into a hit for ABC so I guess they were coasting a bit on that success but ABC didn't go for Scared Stiff.
