Weekly Update – March 12, 2024

Action Figures – Legacy, the first sequel-spinoff from the core Action Figures series, has undergone its first round of revisions and is now in the beta-reading phase.

It’s been a while since I discussed exactly what this new book is about, so here’s a refresher.

The country is still in chaos following ShadoWorks’ coup d’état, and the Hero Squad is running themselves ragged trying to round up the super-villains who escaped Zero Day in D.C.

But this isn’t going to be a story about the Hero Squad.

They’ll be around and have a presence in the story, but this book will focus on two new protagonists, the descendants of characters you may or may not have met already. One is Grace Harker, the great-granddaughter of Lilly Harker, alias the Sapphire Silhouette, who first appeared in the short story Like a Knife in the Heart from the Behind the Mask anthology.

(That anthology, BTW, is unfortunately out of print, but you still might be able to find a used copy somewhere — and if not, don’t worry, the original short will be reprinted in Legacies.)

The other is Aja Pershing, and her name sounds familiar, it’s because she’s Lea Pershing’s daughter. Yes, THAT Lea Pershing — as in the murderous Manticore, Concorde’s arch-nemesis.

Tonally, this will be a bit of a departure from the core series, and will obviously feature a different cast, so if you’re simply expecting more of the Action Figures you know and love, I’d ask you go into this new book with an open mind and be ready for something a little different.
