Spilled Ink #15

Welcome to the newest, and late, issue of Spilled Ink!
This will probably be a short one because it was Fantasporto week and I spent most of my time there, even if I didn’t get to watch any movies.
Why?
Because I always get my head into working mode and forget that I, well, don’t really work there anymore. But then I start talking with guests and answering questions and it’s like I never left, and it’s like an automated reaction I can’t avoid. I even was asked to the stage during the closing ceremony when the team was called up.
And that’s why I didn’t get anything done this week…
But that’s not to say I don’t have news!
WRITING UPDATESRemember the submission I sent to Horror Tree? If you follow me on Instagram then you probably already know that it was accepted and should be out later this week!
These are really simple stories but they were fun, and challenging, to write. They are somewhat familiar to me and they revolve around a subject that I always seem to be drawn to, that of teenager interactions. I think I’ll talk more about that in another newsletter. For now, let’s focus on Tales of a Midnight Fire, the title I gave this collection of drabbles.

I also put a new chapter of The Haunting of Blackwood Manor, one that I had to alter at the last minute because I had to include something that happened to me in the story. That makes the second time a personal event made it into a story and they both are part of this serialized story. If you aren’t reading this, go do it. It’s a fun one.
I was also invited to two new projects and I’ll be giving them some attention in the next few weeks. They will be a bit different from what I’m used to, mostly in theme and genre but guess what? I’m up for a challenge.
Another thing that I want to work on too, is Project: Mud and Project: Cup, and once again I feel that I have too many projects but I can’t help but have ideas I want to try on them!
BOOK REPORTI already read the two stories I really wanted to read on the Weird West anthology I got. The book really seems amazing but I wanted to try something else, as I’ve been craving to read some fantasy… Let’s see what happens this week!
PULL LISTNo comics this week… I’ll have some for you when you get the next newsletter, I promise!
ON-SCREENAll I got to watch was the closing movie for Fantasporto 2024, an epic Chinese fantasy film that is but the first installment of a trilogy. Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms is adapted from the 16th-century fantasy novel Investiture of the Gods written during the Ming dynasty. It has amazing photography, amazing choreographies and battle scenes, and the special effects are really great. I can’t wait for the next two parts.

I’ll leave you with the trailer here:
THINGS I’M HYPED ABOUTProjects, projects, projects!
I have so much cool stuff I’m working on, that it’s really hard to choose.
But I’m getting some new stuff for my next book and I’m so thrilled about all of it!
LAST WORDSI told you this was going to be a short one!
Can’t wait to meet with you again next week hopefully with more stuff to tell you all!
Until then, let the ink of nightmares flow.
