I recently finished The Women by Kristen Hannah. She is such an excellent author and I enjoy reading her books, however, this one is heartbreaking. I was embaressed in how the American public treated our veterans after the Vietnam war, especially the women. By the end of the book I was in tears, which I guess shows how well this book was written.

I realized how out of touch I was back then as I observed all the heart wrenching stories for what was ultimately a major disservice to our entire citizenry, most particularly the soldiers who gave their lives and the loved ones they left behind. It's a hard read, I agree, but it needs to be heard.
