“I hate people who like characters just because their POCs. Liking someone because they’re not-white is just a different type of racial discrimination.”
Um no its not. Its liking them because you finally have a really good character that you can relate to… This confession is stupid and probably made by a Butt hurt white person. Not only that but just like every fucking super hero there is more to them than just being a white person or PoC. Like idk super power, personality, looks…. being a person!!!!!!!!!
I made the part of the confession that negates what you said in bold.
Argh, so many things wrong in two short sentences.
Except, like so many others, you are all immediately seeing this as being racist.
I read this as;
“So many people profess to loving characters of different ethnic backgrounds, without actually knowing the character. It reads like they are saying so for brownie points, which I find to be just as bad as any other type of racial discrimination”
At no point did this confession come off as being racist to me, and no, it isn’t because I don’t understand racism, or have so called white priveledge, it’s because I am able to look at something and see that it might mean something different to what everyone else seems to think it means.
Since, looking through comments people seems to think this is about so called “reverse racism” through the part at the end of the comment
To me, no, it’s about someone who is saying, liking a character JUST BECAUSE THEY’RE NON-WHITE, is as bad as saying you don’t like any character non-white, it’s a snap judgement based on the colour of someone’s skin, not the character.
Now, this confession, CLEARLY, is not aimed at every single person who has ever liked a character of a differing ethnic background than them, it is from the person who has made it, talking about something they either see, or perceive in the comic community, which they would recognise as being racial discrimination.
Please don’t speak for me, I never said or implied that the confession was racist.
