5 Keys to Success

I recently spoke to the University of Findlay Men's Basketball team. The topic I covered with this group of young, motivated athletes was "5 Keys to Success."

Below are those 5 Keys to Success...

1. Thoughts Become Things! "The Strangest Secret" by Earl Nightingale teaches that thoughts become things. What we think about, we become. It's important to be mindful of our thoughts; they will lead to positive or negative outcomes. What are your thoughts leading you towards?

2. Never Stop Learning! When we graduate from high school or college, that isn't the end... it's the beginning of something new. To become better tomorrow than we are today, we must constantly be learning new things. Are you better today than you were yesterday?

3. Gotta have Goals! If you were going on a vacation, would you wake up one day, pick up, and leave? Or would you plan for it in the weeks and months leading up to it? Of course, you'd prepare for the trip first. This is what goals do for our lives; they give us the desired destination before we start! Do you have goals? Are they written down? Do you look at them regularly?

4. Teamwork is Vital! We are all part of different teams in life, such as family, friends, and work. Ask yourself if you would want yourself as a teammate.

5. Believe in YOU! If we want to be happy and live our best lives, we must believe in ourselves. There are many ways to develop this trait. One of the best ways is to do positive affirmations in the mirror daily! Give it a try!

I hope this helps,

Jason Wolbers
