How many “trunk novels” did you write before you got published?

That is actually a complicated question! I had written some fragments of novels when I was starting out, but my first completed novel was published! Choir Boy came out in 2005 and won a Lambda Literary Award. Then... I wrote *four more novels* that never got published.
