National Nothing Day. Yes, it’s a real thing…

Day 16 of 365 days. 349 days left to go.

According to the Internet, it is National Nothing Day. And before you ask, yes, this is a thing.

In 1972, columnist Harold Pullman Coffin proposed a day that the calendar had NOTHING on it. No celebrations. No national holidays. No famous person’s birthday party.

Nothing.

Interestingly, this is not the first time a ‘nothing’ holiday has been proposed. In 1956, the Associated Press circulated the proclamation by Mayor James W. Morgan of Birmingham, Alabama, of a “National Nothing Week” to be celebrated Saturday, February 26 through Friday, March 3 that year.

And after the stress of the holidays, the realization that I have already failed at my New Year’s resolutions, and the daunting upcoming calendar… I need a nothing day.

What will I do? You got it. Nothing. I will drive to work and watch Netflix, bullshit with my co-workers, and play on the TickyTok. Then I will drive home, and it will be a ‘whatever’ night for dinner.

Unfortunately, that means tomorrow is going to be pretty busy playing catch-up.

Doing nothing is better than being busy doing nothing.

If tales of legend, myth, and fantasy topped with a cup of coffee interest you, I suggest checking out my book, The Writer and the Librarian. It’s a historical fantasy about a middle-aged woman faced with a decision: accept what is written in the history books or find out for herself the truth behind the stories.
