Busy Week

t's been a week since I sent Just One Mistake off to the editor and it hasn't come back yet. As an author, the longer it takes my editor to send me a book, the more work I know it's going to need in revisions (revisions are the things editors want you to change, fix, or add). I have a feeling this one is going to need a lot of work!

I'm chugging away on Leah's story. I don't know that I've ever written a story with a single dad with two little girls so this is a bit of a challenge for me.  I can't tell you how happy it makes me that so many people really seem to be enjoying the Baron family.

In between writing new chapters in Just One Family - I got to check out a hotel that will host a conference later this year. My friend and I drove down and had a fantastic dinner!

It started - of course- with me ordering a chocolate martini. I always tell them to make it weak but bartenders really don't believe me. I explained if it's too strong I can only have one. Well that's what happened here. I wanted to try their Creme Brulee martini, but after one chocolate, and me driving, I simply couldn't - so next time!  Then we shared two appetizers - a baked brie with cherries and crab dip to die for. The dip had a bit of a kick to it - which happens a lot in Texas - but it was still to die for!  Then for dinner, I had a difficult choice to make, the braised short ribs - I adore good short ribs- or the Chilean seabass - well- I really love a good seabass too!  So - I did what any indecisive woman would do, I ordered the seabass with spinach and cheese cous cous for dinner and the short ribs with cheese grits and roasted brussel sprouts to go - I'm going to get at least three dinners out of those short ribs! lol.

My friend was much more decisive than I was - she ordered the buttermilk battered chicken with asparagus and mashed potatoes! Then we ran into that indecision problem again when it came to dessert. So, we ordered all three! A key lime tart, a smores pie (that was very intriguing but my friend liked it more than I did), and the one I thought would be great, the pumpkin moose cheesecake - while it was tasty, the key lime turned out to be my favorite.  Now we're hunkering down for a few days of freezing weather - not something Texas does well - but we're hopefully all set. And stocked with lots of leftovers LOL.

maybe next week I can share a snippet from my current work in progress - do y'all like that sort of thing?
