Hi, Pam. I read your account of vampire myths through the ages with great interest. The bifurcation between Lilith and Eve in Jewish folklore goes back to an apparent (or real, depending on your point of view) inconsistency in the Creation story. In Genesis 1, the man and the woman are created at the same time. In Genesis 2, the woman is created as a separate event, some time after the man. This lead to the view among the Rabinnic sages that two women were made. The woman of Genesis 1 was Lilith. Adam's first wife didn't work out, so after the divorce, God made him another one, the Eve (Life or Lively) of Genesis 2.
