WRITING UPDATE: Moving forward on the next legal thriller.

My next novel, a yet to be named legal thriller, is coming along. This one is a little bit different than what I’ve written in the past and I’m having a lot of fun with it.

Here’s a brief excerpt from the WIP (Work in Progress) post I put up last week:

The young deputy district attorney on the other side of the table reminded me of a hawk. His name was Dominick Barnard. He was tall, bony, and his face was covered in sweat. His dark hair had enough gel that his purposefully messy hair might stay in place all day, even with the rainstorm dumping buckets of water just outside the diner door. Barnard’s skin was pale, probably because he never went outdoors for long. They worked him hard at the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s office.

We were at Denny’s and I’d waited to drop the bomb until after we’d ordered breakfast.

Barnard’s hand trembled as he read the affidavit I’d just given to him. I was following his eyes and could see he was now halfway through the first page.
