TenneT joins forces with scale-up that has developed a grid congestion predictor

Introduction

To solve the problem of overcrowded electricity grids, TenneT and the other grid operators are working on a wide range of solutions. We wrote an extensive article about this earlier this year. These solutions are mainly focused on the long term. However, it is also important that TenneT can make better use of the existing network infrastructure.

In order to get new ideas about this as quickly as possible, TenneT came up with an initiative earlier this year to have other parties come up with innovative solutions. This provided the network operator with 57 entries. Three of these were chosen for the ‘final’, where it was possible to scale up for two months and the solutions were extensively tested.

TenneT has now decided to enter into a long-term partnership with one of these parties, N-SIDE. The grid operator states that the solution of this Walloon scale-up is already so concrete that it can be applied relatively quickly (within two to three years) and easily in practice. Hardware Info talked to N-Side about this promising solution.
