To tree, or not to tree?

I used to always have a Christmas tree.

Sometimes we would cut one en famille at one of the local tree farms, other times we bought it from a sales lot. Certainly when the grandkids were tiny, that was part of the fun.

But then the lads grew a bit, and had their own tree to decorate, so I handed over some of the favorite decorations and shifted to poinsettias, with lights but not the decorations, which tend to snap the branches.

What about you? Do you still wrestle a real tree through the door and into the stand? Or is your tree stored in a box during the year? Or, do you do something else entirely to mark the center of the Christmas room?

Kay Robart Yes, I do, although it has gotten more difficult. We have an eight-footer this year. Our nephew had to help my husband put it up.

Terryls No tree. I live alone & don’t get visitors & don’t really have room for a tree. But that pine scent is irresistible, so I have a wreath (or two) to get my scent fix.

Babydoclaz We still tree, despite the kids and grandkids living far away. I love the smell of fresh pine in the living room. All our ornaments have sentimental meaning so it's a delight to see once a year.

Lynn We have a pretty little fiber optic tree now. I love watching the lights.

Diane We quit having a tree when the cat would try to eat the pine needles.

Jennifer We’ve had an artificial tree for several years now.

Armanda Moncton Until Covid, we always had a real tree that we bought or cut down ourselves. Not being able to entertain indoors for a two Christmases sucked the enthusiasm out of it. So we got a Norfolk Island Pine that grows in a pot in our sunroom and we decorate that at Christmas with tiny lights and miniature decorations. I also put some evergreen essential oil in my aromatizer to complete the experience. Looks pretty good, and it is a lot less work.
