Strange how in places where the ground is not heaped with ill-planned cityscapes, flood waters soak seamlessly into the earth to replenish subterranean water tables, while those places that deny such age-old natural flows end up carrying the water like stagnant pools, looking neglected in more ways than one.
To paraphrase a famous saying, those who don’t learn from geography are doomed to suffer it.
