I can only think “killer on the loose” in the way it’s said in the song of the same name from Rocktober Blood.
8. The Resting Place – Camilla Sten
Rich people problems mysteries are not really my cup of tea anymore, however, this one read really quickly and at least it’s in Sweden during a severe snowstorm at a remote location. The main character, Victoria aka Eleanor, grew up without her mother and with her abusive, emotionally harsh beast of a grandmother who never had a hair out of place, lied about everything in her past, dismissed any and all concerns, and yet apparently loved Eleanor because she wasn’t quite as venomous as she was with her own daughters. Um, yikes.
Anyway, she gets murdered by someone who does it silently as Eleanor walks in when it’s happening and she has face blindness. After the murder, Eleanor and her aunt Veronika and a lawyer and also Eleanor’s boyfriend have to go to an estate Eleanor didn’t know about, the remote location, and sort out an inventory…with a killer on the loose. They can’t get a hold of the groundskeeper, the only person who has been living there, Eleanor keeps seeing shadows and nobody believes her, and things of course aren’t as they seem. So many things.

Baby Twiglet and Mom Pammy never had an abusive relationship and yet, they never had a hair out of place and they are exactly as darling and cute as they seem.
