“I recommend all adoptive familiesadd A Part of My Family Forever to their library to read andre-read for years to come.” Ryan Hanlon President and CEO of National Councilfor Adoption (NCFA)

Isabel has a loving family—a mother, a father, and two brothers. And when shewas younger, Isabel was adopted. One day, she starts noticing little thingsthat make her feel different—her dad makes her sit in the middle seat; herbrothers play soccer better than she does; her mom doesn't buy her favoritepeanut butter. As Isabel focuses more and more on her differences, her emotionsbecome too big for her to handle. Will Isabel ever feel like she belongs?

This book is the perfect book for foster and adoptive families to discuss thebig emotions that come along with adoption and the differences that make eachfamily unique. Written by an adoption counselor, this book will help childrenlearn how to handle their big emotions and to see that they are loved for justwho they are.

 ***

Review: Isabel was different than theother members of her family—she was adopted. Isabel always felt her parentspreferred her other siblings more than her.

“I can’t do anything right. Ialways mess up and make people upset.”

Isabel would fear that one day shewould make a big mistake and her parents wouldn’t want her anymore.

Emotions were running rampantinside her. Then she talked it out with her mother.

The book was filled with lovelyand colorful illustrations. I especially liked the comical expressions.

A nice read about adopted kidsthat often feel unwanted. It’s okay to make mistakes as your family will alwayslove you no matter what. A sweet and hopeful story about a family’s love.
